How to Screenshot on Windows 10, iPhone/Android, Laptop, PC, Mac【8 Way】
Screening on a Windows computer is not complicated. If you want to take a screenshot of the entire screen, simply press the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard or the PrtSc button (this button is usually located in the function key area on the upper part of the normal keyboard), and then paste and save the cut screen. The way to paste a screenshot is to open a drawing or other image processing application (the Word program is also available), then press the Control key + V key.
Method 1 Full screen shot
1. Press the "Print Screen" (prt scr) button on the keypad. This captures the entire screen and copies it to the clipboard. The size of the image is the same as the resolution of the desktop. The screen capture button (prt scr) may be called "PrtScn", "Prnt Scrn", "Print Scr" or other similar name. On most keyboards, the screen capture button is located between the F12 key and the scroll lock key. On the notebook keyboard, you may need to press the Fn key or the “function key” to enable the screen capture button. [1]
After the screen capture, you will not receive any prompts to confirm the operation.
2. Paste the screenshot. After the screen capture, you need to paste the image into the program to see it. The most common way to do this is to paste the image into the "painting" program. This will save the screenshot as a picture file for you to use.
Open Attachments from the Start menu and open the Paint program. Newly open a blank canvas and press CTRL + V to paste the picture onto the canvas. You can also open the Edit menu, choose Paste, or right-click on an empty area of the canvas and select Paste.
Click File and Save, then set the picture name and file type. The most common image types are JPG and PNG formats. It is recommended to use the PNG format to save screenshots, because the image quality of this format is high, the file size is small, and it does not take up too much space.
You can also paste screenshots into other programs, such as word programs or email bodies. The operation is also very simple, just open the program, press Ctrl + V key combination to paste the picture into it.
3. In Windows 8, full-screen screenshots can be saved directly as image files. Press the win + prt scr key combination, the full screen screenshot will be saved directly as an image file, and you no longer need to paste it into other programs. The image file will be saved directly to the "screenshot" under the image folder. If the folder does not exist in the folder, the system will automatically create one.
The image will be saved in PNG format.
The screenshot file is automatically named "screenshot" and each successive screenshot is numbered in parentheses.
Method 2 Take a screen shot of a single window
1. Click on the window you want to take a screenshot. The window capture feature automatically takes a screenshot of the Active window on the current screen. This means that the window you want to take a screenshot must be in front of the other windows and be active.
2. Hold down the alt key and press the prt scr key. The captured window image is automatically copied to the clipboard. The size of the image is the same as the size of the window at the time of the screenshot. [2]
After the screen capture, you will not receive any prompts to confirm the operation.
3. Paste the screenshot. After the screen capture, you need to paste the image into the program to see it. The most common way to do this is to paste the image into the drawing program. Then save it as an image file and use it for other purposes.
Open "Accessories" from the "Start" menu, then open the "Drawing" program: On the Windows 8 system, enter "Drawing" from the start interface, and then select the "Drawing" program from the search results. Open a blank canvas and press CTRL + V to paste the picture onto the canvas. You can also open the Edit menu, choose Paste, or right-click on an empty area of the canvas and select Paste.
Click File and Save, then set the picture name and file type. The most common image types are JPG and PNG formats. It is recommended that you choose the PNG format to save the screenshots, because the images in this format are of high quality and the files are small and do not take up too much space.
You can also paste screenshots into other programs, such as word programs or email bodies. The operation is also very simple, just open the program, press Ctrl + V key combination to paste the picture into it.
Method 3 Use the screenshot tool
1. Open the "Screening Tool". The "Screenshot Tool" is available for all Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 editions except the Short and Basic editions. But it does not apply to Windows XP systems. [3]
On Windows Vista and 7 systems, click the "Start" button, select "All Programs", then select "Accessories" and select "Screenshot Tool" from the list.
In Windows 8 system, enter "Screenshot Tool" directly from the start interface, and then select "Screenshot Tool" from the search results.
2. Select the screenshot format you want to create. The program will select "Rectangle Screenshot" by default. Click the arrow button next to the New button to change the screenshot format.
"Any format screenshots" allows you to draw different screenshot shapes using the mouse. The screen content contained in the screenshot shape will become an image.
The Rectangle Screenshot lets you select the rectangular area you want to capture by dragging the mouse.
"Window Screenshot" allows you to select the window to be screenshotd.
"Full Screen Shot" allows you to capture the contents of the entire screen except the screenshot tool.
3. Adjust the screenshot border and select the screenshot content. By default, a red border appears around all screenshots, and you can click the option button to disable or change the border. In the "Options" menu, uncheck the "Show screenshots after capturing screenshots" option. This will remove the boundaries of all screenshots afterwards.
4 .Create a new screenshot. Click the "New" button to start capturing the picture. Then the screen will be lighter, you can drag and drop the mouse to cut out the picture you want to capture. If you choose the "Screen Shot" mode, then select a specific window. Then release the mouse to create a screenshot.
If you select "Full Screen Shot", after clicking the New button, the full screen will be automatically cut off.
5. Make a comment on the screenshot. The created screenshot will be displayed in a new window. You can use the Pen tool to paint or mark on the screenshot, or use the Highlighter tool to indicate the text you want to notice.
The eraser tool will only erase the comment and will not affect the screenshot.
6. Save the screenshot. Click the floppy disk icon to open the save dialog. Enter the name of the screenshot file and select the desired "save type". Then you can send a screenshot via email or put it on the website.
On Windows 7 and 8 systems, it will be saved to PNG format by default. It's a lossless compression format, which means it can save high-quality screenshots without taking up too much space. It is recommended that you choose to save the screenshot in PNG format.
Windows Vista will save screenshots as JPG or JPEG by default. The compression of this format is lossy, which means it will make the picture look slightly agglomerated and lose some color. In general, this format is suitable for saving photos, not screenshots.
In GIF format files, different colors, the edges of the color blocks will have a relatively clear dividing line, so it is not suitable for rendering color-rich pictures, but more suitable for those patterns and trademarks of monochrome or solid colors.
7. Copy the screenshot. By default, images are automatically copied to the clipboard after the screenshot. You can paste the image into a "painting" or Word program, just like pasting a full-screen screenshot. You can do more editing in the Paint program than with the "Screenshot Tool" editor.
